The name IBN 5100 is inspired by the anime steins;gate, where the machine IBM 5100 can read special code in order to do time travelling, just like having magic. IBN 5100 responds by deliberately slowing the writing process, encouraging users to reconsider the weight of each word. The installation not only records what the user types but also responds to it. When a user inputs a sentence, the machine reads it and generates a reply, which is then physically typed back onto the paper. Through this interaction, the work creates a tangible dialogue between human input and machine-generated language.
